How To Take Good Quality Blog Photographs

How To Take Good Quality Blog Photographs

'How do you take your blog photos?' is a question I get asked every now and again. A small percentage of you have thought I have a fancy-pants, expensive studio set up (ha ha), but that same group of people are generally rather underwhelmed when they see how I actually take my blog photos. The usual reaction: 'Oh, is that it?' Yep, white paper and good lighting - that's it.

My older blog posts are a testimony to how awful I used to be with a camera, so I thought I'd share the little tips and tricks I've gathered over the last few months that help me capture crisp, eye catching images that, from my experience, people are more likely to click on. I want to stress that I am definitely not an expert in photography, and there is most certainly a lot still left for me to learn, but in the meanwhile I reckoned it could be useful to some people if I share what I know so far.

Now Playing: August

Now Playing: August

It's been a long time since I've written about music on the blog, which means I've had plenty of time to find some new tunes to fill my ears with before sharing them with you. I've rounded together the 10 that I've been playing on repeat so far this month and made a Spotify playlist for y'all.

Dinner at West Thirty Six

Dinner at West Thirty Six, Notting Hill, LondonDinner at West Thirty Six, Notting Hill, London

West Thirty Six is somewhere I've been wanting to go to for a long, long time. I'd seen its quirky townhouse interior scattered across magazines and the Internet since its opening in January, so you can imagine how excited I was when I was invited there for dinner last week. It was a horrifically rainy Friday, which meant the northern Notting Hill restaurant's squishy armchairs were exactly where I wanted to curl up and eat myself silly after a day of work.

Recent Makeup & Skincare Empties

Recent Makeup & Skincare Empties - Origins Out of Trouble face mask, Laura Mercier Radiance foundation primer, Dermalogica Blackhead Clearing Pore Control Scrub, Dr Jart Regenerating BB Cream
Ah, time for another 'recent empties' post. I get through products at a very slow pace (normally because I'm trialing about 18 different products at once), but these are the ones that have stuck with me 'til the end and for that reason they deserve a special congratu-well-done.

5 Favourite Instagram Accounts

5 Favourite Instagram Accounts

I've only just started really getting into Instagram recently and you could say I'm about 3 years too late to the game. Sure, it might not be saving lives, but there's still something pleasant about getting inspiration for my home, wardrobe, travels and makeup bag from the photographs of total strangers I'll probably never meet. I thought I'd narrow down the list of accounts to five of my favourites, hopefully giving you some new accounts to follow and to love as much as I do.
