Essie Nail Polish in Lapiz of Luxury

What's that? Colour? On my nails?! Regardless of the season, I've been a strictly nude, black or white nails kinda girl in the last year, but there's something about this beautiful polish from Essie that's swayed me away from my usual neutral compulsion.

Brand Focus: Kiehl's

Brand Focus: Kiehl's

Kiehl's was one of those brands that I was first introduced to through blogging and their products have  since made a welcome addition to my bathroom cabinet. Their quirky packaging design, fun store displays and lab coat-wearing 'Mr Bones' make it challenging to walk past a Kiehl's store and not step in for a browse. Because I'd noticed that a lot of their products had crept into my daily skincare routine, I decided I should do a post highlighting all that I've thoroughly tried and tested from Kiehl's and what I made of them as a brand.

Book Review: The Lovely Bones

Book Review: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

On my recent trip to Morocco I had plenty of time to read my new Kindle by the pool and one of the books I managed to finish before heading home was Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones. Yep, ok, it was a little weird reading about a murdering paedophile while my friends were playing water polo in the sun, but the book was so moving and engrossing I could never put it down.

A Weekend in Salcombe

Salcombe, Devon

This weekend I went for a spontaneous trip down to Devon and stayed in a beautiful little cottage just across the estuary from Salcombe. I don't think we could have picked a better weekend to visit; the skies were blue, the weather was warm and summer's only just beginning so one of England's busiest tourist towns was actually pretty quiet. Parking in the centre is nevertheless a bloody nightmare, so we parked up alongside some overgrown shrubs in East Portlemouth and got the 'ferry' across to Salcombe (cue the man in the boat). I'd never been to Salcombe before but I brought my hefty Canon along with me to take some snaps as I wandered around the town, and hopefully they can give you an idea of just how beautiful it is. Let the incessant stream of seaside photos begin.

Life Lately - I've Finished University!

Life Lately - I've Finished University!

If you're a regular reader, you'll probably have noticed that I've been quite quiet on the blogging front lately. I've just finished my final year at the University of Leeds and it's been manic since handing in my last assignment, so I'm sorry for neglecting my little space on the Internet. There were several end of year events to attend - like the Leeds Ball, which was great fun - plus there was the dreaded house clean and move out of our rented accommodation. (This one took slightly longer compared to previous years because I had to do it through watery, tear filled eyes.) Then it was back home to Berkshire for only a few hours before heading to Gatwick to catch a stupidly early flight to Marrakech on Monday morning.
