Album Review: Flight Facilities - Down To Earth

Flight Facilities - Down To Earth

It's rare for me to find an album where I like pretty much every track, but Australian electronic music producing duo Flight Facilities have managed to make one. The perk of them being apparently unable to sing is that the album is a diverse collection of talented featuring artists (even including a surprisingly good acapella from Kylie Minogue).

What I love about the album is the variety - there's a track for any mood. If you're not a fan of electronic music, you'd probably still like the upbeat Sunshine (feat. Reggie Watts) with the ridiculous bassline. If you're a fan of the 80s, then Hold Me Down (feat. See Downes) sounds like it's been lifted straight from Top Gun's soundtrack. Merimbula has a pretty indulgent first 4 minutes, but the last couple minutes have an amazing Moby-like feel, full of atmospheric synths. Two Bodies (feat. Emma Louise) and Clair De Lune (feat. Christine Hoberg) are both hauntingly beautiful and give me  guaranteed goosebumps.

Another great thing about Flight Facilities is their love for a solid theme. The Intro to their album might be a little gimmicky (plane noises and an in-flight announcement), but at the same time it's pretty fun. And you'll rarely see the pair not wearing some old-school pilot getups.

My top 3 are hard to pick but they've gotta be Sunshine, Clair De Lune and Crave You. Let me know if you've ever had a listen to Flight Facilities and what you thought!
