My Favourite Scent

Jo Malone peony and blush suede cologne perfume
(30ml £40, 100ml £82)

For me, Jo Malone is the reigning queen of creating simple, sophisticated and elegant scents. The timeless packaging can sit on anyone's shelf, while the 30ml bottle is the perfect size for throwing into a bag when on the move. The range of scents available is impressive. They even recommend 'layering' them in a create-your-own fashion, although I'm yet to give this a go and quite frankly I probably won't until I'm no longer a loan-riddled student.

Peony & Blush Suede is a floral scent with a hint of apple, rose and honey, balanced in a way that isn't too sweet or overwhelming. It is fresh and light, and reminds me of a bouquet of freshly cut peonies. What I love most of all about Jo Malone perfumes is the way they are simultaneously delicate and long lasting. A few spritzes in the morning and the scent is still pleasantly lingering by the evening, without making anyone choke and cough along the way. I won't try and pretend they're not pricey, but I was given the 30ml as a Christmas present last year and it still hasn't run out (and I use it most days).

It will be very, very difficult for any other perfume out there to knock this one off the top of my favourites, but I welcome them to try.
