Food Review: Boss Burgers, Leeds

Once again I thought I'd branch out from beauty and write about something close to my heart, home and stomach - food

Boss Burgers is a funny little eatery in the middle of Hyde Park, which is the student area just north of Leeds. This doesn't seem like the sort of place you'd expect to find a gourmet burger eatery, but luckily for me and every other student in Leeds it's where these culinary artistes decided to set up shop just under a year ago. It's only a small place and seating is limited, so I normally opt for a takeaway - probably a good thing, since eating one of these can get pretty messy.

Last night I ordered the Smokeback Mountain, which is a juicy beef patty topped with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, BBQ sauce and their specialty pepper mayonnaise. Another favourite of mine is the Moozadell, which is a burger laden with mozzarella, rocket and a sweet, slow roasted red pepper. However what makes every burger here so special is the bun: a sweet, light brioche bun that is toasted to perfection. The cost? Anything between £5 and £6.50 for a burger twice the size of your fist. I like those economics.

If you live anywhere near Leeds I recommend you try this place as soon as you can. If you're not  local (and I'm assuming most readers aren't), you can use their menu as inspiration and try cooking your perfect brioche bun burger at home. Some more of their delicious flavour combinations can be found on their menu here. So... Have I made you hungry yet?

Oh and in case you're wondering, the nail polish I'm wearing is the Maybelline one I posted about here and this is it 9 days later. I told you it lasts.

  1. Was literally taken here by my friends the other day, and I fell in love. I had "The Goats Cheese & Chilli One" and my god, my mind (and tongue) was blown!!! Definitely recommend trying it next time you go. I think I'll be averaging a few of their burgers a week now xx

    1. Yeah they have a goats cheese and chilli jam one, plus a halloumi burger! Have yet to try those though, so they're next on my list

  3. These looks absolutely gorgeous, what is it about gourmet burger restaurants popping up everywhere!? (not that I'm complaining). I'm on a daytrip to Leeds next month, hopefully, so I'm going to have to nip in and have a try..I also might have a go at making some at home, you know, purely to make sure the combinations are to my taste...

    1. It's a bit further out of the city centre (probably a 30 minute walk), but if you've got a car then definitely do it! It looks like any old takeaway place from the outside. Very surprising when you see the burgers they make.
