Having received both of these mascaras for Christmas and what with both being extremely popular after their release, I thought it'd be interesting to make a little side-by-side of these Benefit bestsellers and see which one is worth the money. Overall? There's really not too much visible difference. BADgal retails at £16.50 while They're Real is a couple quid extra at £18.50. Again, not much difference.

Each mascara formulation and brush has its own pros and cons. BADgal lash has a brush which is softer and less prone to clumping, making application easier and quicker. It covers your lashes from root to tip, unlike They're Real, and it leaves your lashes looking thick but not too intense. Unfortunately BADgal doesn't have great staying power and can begin to crumble off after long wear.

They're Real, on the other hand, has incredible staying power but then this means it's also incredibly hard to take off. It requires a good long soak in eye makeup remover, and even then it's not completely off. It has a really intense black pigment and a wetter formula, meaning it's prone to marking your eyelid if you don't wait long enough before looking up. The brush also causes clumps quite easily but then it can also create amazingly thick lashes. The little orb at the end of the wand is also useful for the lower lashes.

So overall it seems like BADgal is best for daytime while They're Real can be saved for nights out thanks to its longevity and thick, intense appearance. I can't say which one I prefer, but I do know the  BADgal brush is the easiest I've ever used!

Have you tried these mascaras? Do you prefer one to the other?

  2. Your eye colour is amazing! I'm a huge fan of Bad Gal Lash, this and 'Falsies' by Maybelline are my 'go to' mascaras.

  4. I bought into the hype of They're Real but really, honestly? I don't think it's worth the hype. Great post by the way! Following you on bloglovin' can't wait for more of your posts! X
