MAC Cyber Lipstick

MAC Cyber lipstick reviewMAC Cyber lipstick reviewMAC Cyber lipstick review

I've had this lipstick for a while but have never really had the confidence to wear such a dark colour! In fact I'm pretty sure it's MACs darkest available shade of lipstick. When laid on thick it can go near black, but I find it's difficult to get an even tone when I try and do this. Instead I use it as a stain first and then build the colour up gradually, blotting with tissue as I go. There might not be as much drama with the stain effect, but I certainly like the light purple-pink it makes.

Essie Virgin No Longer

Essie 'Sugar Daddy' & 'Mint Candy Apple' (£7.99)
....I definitely thought this was a light pinky shade and not my exact skin tone when I bought this. My mistake.. but the nail-less finger effect is kind of interesting (I think?!)

So this shade may have been a bad choice for my ridiculous ghost skin, but I still can't believe how Essie has managed to live up to its name. I know so many people are addicted to Essie nail polish but for some reason I'd never tried it for myself, always preferring Nails Inc or OPI, but now I know better. It goes on so smooth and even, dries quick and the best thing is it's so difficult to chip! I had a full shift at work today and normally there's no hope for my poor brittle nails lasting more than 2 hours, yet it's 8pm and they're still intact which is virtually a miracle.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour
'Particuliere' (£18)
As well as pastels, I'm also a fan of anything neutral. When I can't be bothered to co-ordinate nails and clothes, I use this taupe/brown/grey Chanel mix because it goes with pretty much anything. It has the perfect consistency for application and applies evenly. This only needs two coats, yet I find you have to wait around 10 minutes between each coat or else it stays tacky for about an hour (seriously!)

Clarins Everlasting Foundation & Concealer Stick

Clarins Everlasting Foundation (£24)
Clarins Concealer Stick (£18)
I had been recommended Clarins facial makeup by a close friend who claimed this was the "best foundation" she'd ever used (and she's used a lot), so I thought I'd give it a go and went and bought shade 104 Cream and the palest concealer stick to go with it. I've never really tried Clarins makeup before but I'm definitely glad I did.
The foundation
Firstly, let's just announce the best thing about this foundation. THE SMELL. Oh my god, it is heaven in a bottle of beige liquid. It's some sort of fruity, watermelon-y scent which I obsess over.
Not only does it smell incredible but it also melts into your skin. It's the perfect combination of sheer and opaque and I think it's a great everyday foundation. Slap on enough though and it's thick enough to cover anything! It blends so smoothly and I honestly can't praise it high enough. It also stays true to its name and stays put for hours on end without the need for powder (I actually don't even need to put powder on after applying).

Before & After Concealer

The concealer I bought because I needed a new one anyway. It is very similar to MAC's Studio Finish concealer (always one of my favourites) because of its thickness and ability to hide dark circles. You also only need a dab to cover anything and it blends so so easily - although it is very drying. My only complaint about the concealer was the lack of shade choice; I ended up having to buy a deathly white shade because the next colour up was for latinos, I swear. Perhaps not as wonderful as the foundation, but still a good buy. (Plus I got a free moisturiser and lip gloss which is always fun.)

The inevitable & uncomfortable first post

For the longest time I've wanted to start a blog but unfortunately never really owned the motivation/courage/time/things to write about! But now summer's come and I have endless amounts of spare time to fill before starting university in September. My days so far have literally been spent trawling the internet looking at other people's beauty & style blogs and it's made me pretty jealous. They own so many incredible things!
